A loan of $2,300 helped a member to increase her working capital in order to offer more services in her restaurant.

Uzima Group's story

Chantal is a 42-year-old businesswoman living in the neighborhood of Buyenzi en Marie in Bujumbura. She has run her restaurant for 12 years, a business that she launched when she was a seamstress and sold cosmetics and shoes. She is married to Ibrahim, a driver. Together they have eight children, of whom three attend school. Chantal studied until sixth grade in elementary school.

She applies for a loan to increase her working capital in order to offer more services in her restaurant and make more profit. She hopes that her business will grow and enable her to provide for her basic needs and build her own house, since she has a plot of land.

Chantal is a member of Uzima Solidarity Group.
