Vianne is a petty trader of 25 who lives in the Commune of Rugombo in the province of Cibitoke, located in the west of Burundi. She has been selling cooking salt for three years. She got through the 10th grade in secondary school. She is married to Jean de Dieu, who is also a petty trader. They have one child, two and a half years old.

She is getting a Kiva loan of 500,000 Burundi francs which will allow her to grow her working capital so as to buy big quantities of cooking salt for resale so that she can make more profit. She hopes that her business will expand and permit her to buy a plot of land to build her very own house on.
