A loan of $350 helped to buy and insure a dairy cow.

Jackline's story

Jackline lives in Nyamira town in western Kenya, where she has been farming for the last five years. She grows maize and beans, which she sells locally along with milk produced by a cow that she owns. She is 32 years old, married and has three children, two of whom attend school. She is applying for her first loan, for 30,000 Kes, to buy and insure a new dairy cow. The extra income she earns by selling this milk will allow her to improve her family's living standards. Her main problems are disease and low prices for farm products. In the future, she hopes to get help transporting her products to market.
