Stanely is 42 years old and has been in mixed farming for 15 years in his hometown of Nkubu in Central Kenya. He is married, with 2 children aged 10 and 13. His farm produces potatoes, peas, cabbages and milk, which are all sold at the local market.
Stanely has requested a loan of 47,250 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase a dairy cow. He says the income will help him meet his family's basic needs such as the children's education. Stanely is focusing on doing dairy farming on a large scale. He says animal diseases and the high cost of feed are the challenges in farming. Stanely is glad Juhudi Kilimo loans are very efficient.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
