A loan of $650 helped a member to purchase more chickens for resale.

Flavia's Group's story

Flavia is 22 years old and lives in the town of Kyengera in the Kampala central region of Uganda. She is married and has two children, one of whom is currently in school. Flavia has a poultry farm business, which she has run for four years.

To help expand her business, Flavia has requested a loan of 600,000 Ugandan Shillings from Kiva partner, BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more chickens for resale. With the help of her loan from BRAC, Flavia hopes to generate greater profits and take care of herself – for example, by buying new clothes. In the future, she hopes to expand her business further.

Flavia is a member of BRAC’s Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program, which has helped her prospects for the future by improving her business.
