Pelagra Juana's story

Pelagra is a member of the communal bank "Virgen de Concepción", located in the Ayrumas Carumas village of the district of Acora in the province and department of Puno. She is 48, married and has six children (two are independent). She has a 4th grade elementary school eduation.

For a year she has been working with the Manuela Ramos Movement and her first loan in the amount of 300 PEN was used to buy two sheep.

She plans to the use the new loan of 1,500 PEN to buy a cow which she will feed for two months then sell in the town of Llave. She also sells alpacas. She works with her husband and children and her dream is to have more well-bred livestock to increase her earnings. What she likes best about the communal bank are the meetings, punctuality and savings.
