A loan of $550 helped to buy a cow.

Tatiana's story

Tatania is a member of the Virgen de Concepción Communal Bank located in C.P. Ayrumas Carumas in the district of Acora, province and department of Puno. She is 24 years old and is in a common-law relationship. She has two children and has a high school education.

Tatania has worked with the Movimiento Manuela Ramos for one year. She invested her first loan of S./ 500.00 nuevos soles in her sheep and cattle selling business. She is also an artisan and uses natural alpaca yarn to make sweaters, scarves, accessories, and stuffed animals.

Now, she is requesting a new loan of S./ 1500.00 nuevos soles and will use the money to buy a prizewinning cow or seven lambs. She says sometimes she buys the animals and sells them instantly, and other times she buys them for fattening.

She helps her husband, who is in the construction business. Her goal is to bring her meat to other departments outside the city, and in this way, improve her profits. She likes the Communal Bank because of the punctuality and responsibility among the members.
