A loan of $950 helped to buy cattle and to plant vegetables.

Lesbia De Jesus's story

Lesbia is from Chacaraseca, a community located in León. She is 62 years old and has a son. She’s a farmer and raises livestock. She learned this occupation while still a little girl because her parents were farmers. They passed down land to her to cultivate and that’s what she did. She worked hard to have a successful harvest. With income earned she bought animals like cows, chickens and pigs to raise. Despite only completing fourth grade she has known how to get ahead. She works day by day to raise her crops and have a farm today.

She asked for the loan to buy oxen to work the land. This loan will help her buy cattle she needs to meet the needs of her farm and to grow vegetables. Her next goal is to grow pumpkins, chayote and peppers to open up a new market for crops she didn’t previously grow and to continue producing to get ahead.
