A loan of $375 helped to buy construction materials to begin building a concrete room since it's now made of zinc, and to change the roof.

Petrona's story

Petrona sells clothing, cosmetics and also ice cream. She has been in this business for four years and before that she worked as a maid. Now her three sons and daughters who are in Costa Rica help her by sending her money and the others live on their own.
For several years she has been building her house of concrete, thanks to her savings and the help from those working in Costa Rica. With the financing from Afodenic she has had four loan cycles for the infrastructure which has advanced faster than the construction.
There is a room which she wants to improve that’s made of zinc and has roofing timbers that are very old. She has bought stone, pebbles, sand and she will use this loan to buy sheets of zinc, timbers, nails, iron and cement to begin to finish it more securely.
