Korir is married and has two children with one already in school.
He has been in mixed farming for five years, producing tea and milk and selling to the local market. He gets additional income from his private veterinary services to the local farmers.
Korir has requested this loan of 70,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to enable him to construct a dairy unit for his animals. He is optimistic that the cows' production will improve and enable him to repay the loan and save more and acquire more dairy cows in the future.
He says his big challenge remains the fluctuating milk prices within the local market. He is glad Juhudi loans have empowered small farmers greatly.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
