A loan of $1,125 helped to purchase cloth, thread, button and a semi-industrial overlock sewing machine.

Ana Cenobia's story

Ana, 48, is a very enterprising woman. She lives in the Los Altos del Bosque neighborhood of the city of Cartagena with her husband and three children aged 22 to 26. She dreams that her children may fulfill their own dreams. They are her inspiration in the independent work she does, in which she makes clothing, especially women's clothing. She began her work looking for an income opportunity to support her husband's leadership in their home, without neglecting the education and upbringing of her children. This was the reason she went to school to study dressmaking, by which means she would achieve her two objectives. Finally she started up her venture, beginning with a dressmaking shop in her own home. Gradually her business has grown and she plans to continue to develop it to the point at which it may generate some jobs for others.

Her Kiva loan is the first financing Ana has had with the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, with which she will purchase cloth, thread, buttons and a semi-industrial overlock sewing machine. With these she will evaluate her productive task, improve process times, and finally, respond quickly to orders for new designs in the feminine line.
