A loan of $375 helped to buy construction materials (cement, sand, rocks, etc.).

Mario Salomao's story

Mario is from Gaza in the province of Gazo in southern Mozambique. He is the father of 3 children who range in age from 2 to 11. The oldest 2 are in school. He studied through seventh grade but did not continue due to the lack of financial resources. He lives in his own home with his family and also supports his siblings by sending them money to help with their food costs. He left Gaza for Maputo in search of employment and better living conditions. He has worked at the railroad comapny of Mozambique for more than 7 years and makes 3,800 meticals per month, which he puts towards his home's expenses and also saves some in his bank account. He has never has a loan with another bank. He became familiar with Hluvuku through a colleague that is also a client of our institution. This is his second loan in the amount of 10,500 meticals, which he will use to buy construction materials (cement, sand, rocks, etc.) to expand his home. He is confident that he will pay back his loan without any difficulty. He wants to finish the work on his home and start a business, for which he is planning to request more loans.
