Gilbert's story

Gilbert is a dairy farmer who lives in the west Kenyan town of Kitale, where he has made a living as a farmer for the last 10 years. His farm produces milk, maize, vegetables and beans, all of which he sells in the local market. He mainly depends the income he earns in this market to meet the needs of his family. He is applying for a loan for 83,200 Kes from Juhudi Kilimo to buy and insure two dairy cows. His goal is to increase his income by having more milk to sell. A higher income will also allow him to buy more animal feed and treat the diseases which affect his farm's output.
