A loan of $3,200 helped a member to build her future grocery store.

Solidaridad Group's story

If there is something that Rosa is noted for, it is the good flavor of her food. She recalls that on one occasion somebody asked her for 200 tamales for a wedding party. She received a lot of compliments as her tamales were delicious and so she started a business preparing food for all occasions. She also sells food from her own home. This income allows her to help her daughter and her school-age grandchildren.

What Rosa would like more than anything is to finish building her home so that she can set up a grocery store in it. She will use her loan money to make progress in her project. Rosa is in charge of the "Solidaridad" group. This is a new responsibility for her and, as the group's president, she would like to do her best as she has belonged to the group for six years.

* Rosa is wearing a chequered shawl. There is also a young person in the photo who is not a member of the group.
