A loan of $3,575 helped a member to buy supplies for making handicrafts (threads, needles, material for fans, hats, etc.).

Mujeres Trabajadoras De Santo Tomas Group's story

The women of this committee are from the city of Caacupe. The committee president is Alicia who lives with her husband and makes handicrafts. She makes 'piri' hats (hand-made straw hats) and 'pantallas de kandaray' (a means of providing relief from the heat, similar to a fan). These are typical Paraguayan items.

Alicia and her fellow committee members are very happy and grateful for the support that Fundación Paraguaya and Kiva are providing them with. With this capital, the ladies are increasing their small businesses and also their income, so that not only they can enjoy a better quality of life but also their children and their family members. Alicia would like this loan to buy the supplies she needs for making her handicrafts.
