A loan of $1,550 helped a member to buy Ao Poi embroidery supplies.

Alegria Group's story

The “Alegría” (Joy) committee is working in the Capiata neighborhood in the city of San Lorenzo. They have gotten to know each other and organized themselves facing their reality.

Every week they contribute a small amount to petty cash and they are an excellent committee. They have helped with the formation of other committees in the area where they reside thereby adding their little grain of sand to their community.

Debora is a humble woman who works making Ao Poi (traditional Paraguayan embroidery) items, something she learned while still a little girl. Every day she strives to the maximum to do a good job because this is her family’s source of support. She wants the loan to buy supplies to make the clothing items she sells.

In this group: Adela, Lorena, Victoria, Silvia, Margarita, Debora, Gricelda, Andrea, Vidalia, Lucia, Gilda, Palmira, Ruth, Jenny, Wilma*
