Alfa Omega Group

A loan of $2,500 helped a member to buy leather, shoe soles, etc.

Alfa Omega Group's story

The communal bank "Alfa Omega" will begin its third cycle with Pro Mujer in the Germán Busch regional office. It is composed of 10 members. It is led by a board of directors, with Señora Marisol at its head. The members of the group have a variety of businesses; among them are making shoes, making and selling blankets, artisan rugs, selling condiments, hardware store, sales of used clothes, store, and furniture sales.

Señora Marisol points out that she joined a communal association at Pro Mujer eight years ago, at the invitation of her mother. At the present time she has a workshop for making shoes, which she began five years ago with the support of her family.

The loan that she will take out now is to increase her capital so that she can buy leather, shoe soles, etc., which she buys wholesale in La Ceja. This form of work allows her to generate resources to support her family as much as she can, since she is married and has three children.

When she is asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responds that she likes the health training.

Señora Teodora does not appear in the photograph, since she moved suddenly.
