A loan of $2,350 helped a member to buy copper sulphate.

Rocio Del Amanecer Group's story

The “Rocío del Amanecer” (Morning Dew) communal bank will start its first cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Villa Exaltación Center. It has nine members and is led by a governing board headed by María Luisa. The businesses the members are involved in are varied. Among them we have: vegetable production, leafy green vegetable production, construction worker, vegetable sales, minerals merchant and food sales.

María Luisa indicates that she’s been part of Pro Mujer for five years having joined thanks to an invitation from a girl friend. Currently, she has a business selling copper sulphate which started 30 years ago with help from her parents.

The loan she’ll take out now is to increase her working capital. She will buy copper sulphate from the mines in Potosí and Coro Coro which she will then sell to private firms when they place orders. This way of working makes it possible for her to generate income to support her family in whatever way possible because she’s married and has five three children.

When she is asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she answers that she likes the health training and the medical clinic.

In this group: Maria Luisa, Esperanza, Filomena , Teodora Norah , Marcela Eugenia, Daniela, Mario, Liseth, Lourdes
