Lateifa is a 27-year-old woman. She and her mom live with her married brother as they have no other family left to live with or take care of them. Lateifa takes care of her sick mother hence she can't go to work. Lateifa's brother is employed at a clothes store.

Lateifa took out a loan from FATEN as the family live in the Noor Shams refugee camp and the house, like most of the refugee camp houses, needs a lot of maintenance. The house floor is made out of concrete.

Lateifa, who appears in the picture, wants to replace it with tiles and fix water lines as well.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
