A loan of $675 helped to acquire shoes and catalogs so that she can generate sales.

Rosaura's story

Rosaura is 22 years old and has a preparatory school education. She is married to Hernan, who is a farmer. Rosaura is pregnant and lives with her husband in the community of Tetela in the State of Oaxaca. This community is located in an area known for growing sugar cane and is only 15 minutes away from the Don Pablo Machado sugar mill.

Rosaura says that she decided to start working a little more than three years ago so that she could earn more income. When she got married, Rosaura continued with her sales business since she and her husband want to build up an inheritance for their children. She sells shoes through catalogs and travels from house to house in order to visit friends and neighbors in her community. Rosaura arrives at their homes to show them the catalogs. She takes their orders and then requests the shoes. Rosaura collects payment after the merchandise has been delivered. She is an enthusiastic and friendly person, which helps her sell more shoes. Rosaura needs this loan to invest in the purchase of shoes and catalogs so that she can make sales. She hopes that this investment will help her business prosper because she wants to save up money before the arrival of her baby.
