Carmen's story

49 year-old Carmen is a very kind and unassuming woman who lives in her own home together with her two beloved children, 24 year-old Alan and 26 year-old Giancarlo, who she would like to provide with a better quality of life.

In the city of Pucallpa, one of the busiest and best-known cake shops is the one which Carmen runs. Her delicious gateaux and cakes have set her business apart from the others. As a result, she has more customers than her competitors do. Carmen learned how to make confectionery by studying the subject in the city of Lima. Since then, she has been making delicious desserts and saw that it was a way to make her own income.

What Carmen most enjoys about her work is decorating the cakes. She has a lot of patience and this is reflected in the beautiful decorations her cakes have. Carmen has been in this business for 19 years and she considers the most difficult part of her work to be staying up very late to fill orders that people have placed with her. In a near future, she hopes to buy a new oven.

This will be Carmen's first loan from MFP. She has always been very punctual in making her repayments and she hopes to be punctual this time as well. Carmen is a responsible member of her community bank and is very well-liked because of this. She will use the 1,000 Peruvian soles she has requested to buy ingredients for making her delicious cakes.
