A loan of $1,100 helped to buy sacks of organic fertilizer.

Carmen's story

Carmen is 33 years old and comes from the town of Kimbiri. She lives in her own home, in the small village of Kimbiri Alto, together with her partner, 38 year-old Elías, and her three beloved children who inspire her to continue working hard.

Carmen lives surrounded by the green fields of her village where she breathes the fresh air and is surrounded by fauna and flora. This fills her with the energy to work on her land where she grows tropical plants from the Peruvian Amazon region such as bananas, cacao, coffee and turmeric. She has put a lot of hard work and commitment into these plants and now they produce a lot of fruit. Carmen has been working her land since she was 20 years old and she knows just how hard farm work is. During harvest times, when she has to transport her crops, Carmen hires laborers to speed up her work. She also receives support and knowledge from her husband Elías. She enjoys what she does because, thanks to her work, she has acquired several items for her household.

Carmen is requesting this loan to improve her land and make it more productive. With the loan she has requested, she will buy several sacks of manure since they will make her plants more leafy. In the future, she will buy more land and plant productive plants which are native to her area. This will be her first loan. She feels very happy to know that she will have financial support since she will feel safe buying what she needs and she is prepared to make her repayments punctually, according to schedule. She will use the 3,000 Peruvian soles to buy sacks of manure with which to fertilize her land.
