A loan of $1,550 helped a member to acquire merchandise to sell through her snack business.

Hermosas Group's story

Las Hermosas (The Lovelies) is a solid group comprised of seven women who have just received their first loan from Kiva partner Credituyo. They named their group the way they did because they say that this is the word that best describes them, Hermosas (beautiful). The majority of the women in the group sell snacks, tacos, shoes, and clothes. Sandra Patricia is one of the women in the group. Sandra is 27 years old and has four children. Of her children, two of them are going to elementary school, one is in kindergarten, and one is still too young for school. Sandra dreams of all her children continuing their studies and that they will one day be able to study for a professional career. This is why six months ago, Sandra decided to open a business selling snacks out of her home. She used the money from her loan to stock her store and buy various products such as Doritos, tostadas, and sweets. Sandra hopes that with the revenue from her sales, she will be able to invest little by little so that she can start a more established grocery store.
