A loan of $1,600 helped a member to purchase produce from a farm.

Makoni Vegetable Vendors Group's story

This is 36-year-old Beauty from Chitungwiza, a high-density suburb about 30 km from Harare. She is married with three children ages 4, 12 and 19 years old. Two of them attend school.

Beauty runs a vegetable stall at a market selling tomatoes, cabbages, onions and potatoes. The business has been in operation for 2 years. She says the main challenge faced is a lack of capital.

Beauty has requested a loan of $400 to purchase fresh vegetables from a farm instead of the middleman. She says the extra income generated as a result of this loan will allow her to increase her monthly income and improve her standard of life. In the future, Beauty plans to be a wholesaler at Makoni.
