A loan of $3,100 helped a member to buy perfumes, creams and cosmetics.

Hermano Miguel (Cuenca) Group's story

The communal bank "Hermano Miguel" is comprised of 9 members, most of whom are related. They work in different activities that help them to support their households and get ahead with their families. They live in the Las Orquideas neighborhood in the city of Cuenca, which is the third largest city in the country. Its people, its culture, its traditions, the variety of its cuisine and the beauty of the surrounding countryside make this city enchanting and dreamlike.

Gladys lives in the Las Orquideas neighborhood. She has been in this communal bank for 7 years. She is 28 years old, married, and has 2 children aged eight and one and a half. Her oldest daughter studies in a school in the city. Her husband is an industrial mechanic. They do not own a home, and so live in a rented dwelling.

Gladys is a teacher. She has been teaching in a small school in her city for two years. In her free time she sells Esika brand cosmetics. She has been selling cosmetics for three years.

She will invest the proceeds of this loan in perfumes, creams and cosmetics to expand her business.

Her goal is to get her degree, since she lacks only one more year of studies.
