A loan of $2,825 helped a member to buy vegetables.

Dakar Group's story

The solidarity group was created February 17, 2001. It consists of 16 women who all live in the same neighborhood. Their main activity is small trade. Mrs. Fatou, seen on the right in the photo with her hand raised, is the head of the group. She is 81 years old, married, and the mother of ten children. She sells vegetables and has a good command of her activity, having done this for several years. This loan will allow her to strengthen her capital and further expand her activities. She will use the profits to improve her family’s living conditions (healthcare, food, education, etc.). One of the group members, Dieneba, did not seek a loan despite appearing in the photo. This explains why 15 members are requesting a group loan although there are 16 members in the picture.

In this group: Fatou Mago, Fatou, Maimouna, Nafissatou Kelle, Dialika, Sire, Fatou, Dienaba, Sire, Mariama, Fatou Nouha, Yacine, Gnimanding, Khady, Dienaba
