Marcia Patricia's story

Señora Marcia is a member of the communal bank, Nuevos Horizontes ("New Horizons"). She lives in the city center of Cuenca, a place known for its beautiful landscape, colonial city center, culture, tradition, gastronomy, and people.

Señora Marcia is 38 years old, divorced, and doesn't have any children but is the guardian of her niece, whom is an orphan. Her niece is 9 years old and goes to a local school in the city. They don't own their home but rent it.

Señora Marcia is a vendor of different types of clothing. She began this form of business over 20 years ago. She sells her merchandise during her free time and on the weekends. For the past two months, she has been taking care of senior citizens part time. She also has a stall on the corner near her house where she sells meat on a stick.

She has been a member of her communal bank for over 12 years and all of the credits have benefited her businesses. The money from this credit will be invested in the purchase of clothing, such as pants, blouses, shirts and kids' clothes.

Her dream is to own her own home.
