Amina is a married and has six children, all of whom attend school. She owns a house that has electricity and piped-in water, and her greatest monthly expense is food for her family. For the past 20 years, she has run a business in her home where she sells snacks to neighbors and passersby. She also owns rental houses which contribute to her income. Amina dreams of expanding her business and owning more houses in the future. She is applying for a loan for Kshs 100,000 to renovate her houses by buying cement, sand and paint. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
