A loan of $550 helped to purchase maize, flour and sugar.

Maame's story

Maame, who is married to a fisherman, has eight dependents. She assists her husband in the general upkeep of the home and also sells boodo, a local baked dish made from flour, sugar, maize and other ingredients in Elmina, a fishing community in Cape Coast.

Maame will use the loan to purchase maize, flour and sugar, and plans to put the new profits from her expanded business toward the acquisition of some land. In the photo, Maame is shown squatting close to the oven she uses to cook her product.
