A loan of $3,350 helped a member to buy products to build up her general grocery store.

Sainte Marie Group's story

The Sainte Marie group was set up on the day the Banc Villageois was inaugurated, that is 1st June 2011. The 30 women who make up this group live in the same district and all have small trading activities.

Anne-Marie, who is on the right of the photo with her left hand raised, is in charge of the group. She is 46 years old, married and mother to three children; she has six other people in her care.

She has been a trader for more than ten years and has a store where she sells various products (rice, sugar, vegetable oil etc.) She has a second activity which is restauration.

This loan will allow her to build up the stock of goods in her shop in order to gain her customers' loyalty. With the income she makes, Anne Marie is planning to extend her shop with the aim of converting into a grocery store.
