A loan of $4,350 helped a member to increase fruit and vegetable stocks to sell.

Mango Group's story

Somoe, who is in her mid-30s, is single with 2 children. She is also taking care of her sister's daughter who has just finished her primary seven. Samoe has been selling cooked food, fruits, and vegetables for 3 years now. She works from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm daily and is able to make a small monthly profit. Her dream is to one day build a house of her own.

This will be Samoe's third loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to increase her food stock, and purchase more fruits and vegetables and has paid back all her loans successfully. She hopes for a loan to increase "genge" (Kiswahili fruits and vegetables).

She will share this loan with her loan group "Mango" which has a total of 17 members, who will hold each other accountable in paying back their loans.

In this group: Somoe , Selina, Nuru, Rabia, Salm, Beatrice, Bakari, Fatina, Levina, Amina, Ndeshi, Arabia, Stevin, Godfrey, Elibariki, Happy*, Ahamed
