Jardines De Paute (Cuenca) Group's story

The community bank "Jardines de Paute" ("Paute Gardens") consists of 9 women. They are diligent and enterprising women who work in various activities that allow them to increase and improve their family finances. They live in the vicinity of Paute Canton, which is 35 km. northeast of Cuenca. The climate is mild and conducive to flower and fruit agriculture. Its people are engaged in trade, animal husbandry, agriculture, etc. They are very hospitable and friendly. Paute has many tourist attractions to visit.

Señorita Rosa Aurora lives in Paute Canton. This is her second loan made through the community bank, which she was invited to join by a friend. She is 24 years old, single and has a 6 year old daughter who studies in a school in the sector. She does not have her own house, so she lives in her brother's home.

Señorita Rosa Aurora is engaged in crafts, and does hand embroidery on all kinds of garments. She learned this activity thanks to her mom and has had her business for 4 years. She works full time from home and receives her orders from people she knows. She is also studying for a career in Systems Engineering via distance learning.

The money from the loan will be invested in the purchase of yarn and fabric to continue her activity. Her goal is to complete her university studies.
