Nidia Encarnacion's story

Nidia Encarnación is 43 years old, married and living with her husband and daughter in Agua Clara which belongs to Chillanes Canton.

The “Santa Rosa de Agua Clara” communal bank is located 20 minutes from the Chillanes office. It has 20 members and this is the second loan they’ve requested from the Cooperative. The members of this communal bank farm cocoa beans and manioc and are also merchants.

Nidia farms cocoa beans, manioc, corn and a little bit of bananas on her own land. She makes her purchases in Chillanes and San Pablo and her sales take place in the Chillanes Sunday farmers market.

The loan will help her buy farming supplies. The loan has helped her in such a way that her crop yield has increased. She has faced challenges like illness among the laborers and infestations and crop illnesses.

Her dream is to have enough income to educate her daughter. In her free time she enjoys going out with her husband and daughter.
