A loan of $625 helped to purchase fish in wholesale.

Yarita Piedad's story

Yarita is a member of the communal bank "El Arenal" of the district of Calleria, of the department of Ucayali. She is 25 years old, married, and she has only one child. She sells fish, a business she has had since she was very young because she grew up among fishermen. Her mother and her entire family are dedicated to fishing. Her husband is a welder. With her new loan of S/.1700 nuevos soles she will purchase 2 sacks of dried and salted fish along the river for later resale to the grocery stores in the city. She does not sell retail. Through this business she has been able to purchase a few things such as, a television set and a DVD player for her son to watch the cartoons he likes so much. This is how she is able to help with the household expenses. She is very happy because she is able to work with the funds from Manuela Ramos (Kiva Field Partner) given to her through a loan and she has been able to make her business grow.
