A loan of $900 helped to purchase food and personal hygiene products in order to increase sales at her small grocery store.

Sonia Del Socorro's story

Sonia is a small business owner. She works out of her house together with her husband. They own a small grocery store which they opened six years ago. They have been able to grow their business thanks to various cycles of AFODENIC funding which they used to increase their inventory. They also sell tortillas. There is a high demand for tortillas and this has allowed them to increase their number of customers. As a mother, Sonia is happy because she is able to work and take care of her children at the same time.

She plans to use this new loan to buy rice, beans, sugar, corn, and personal products like soap, lotion, cosmetics, shampoo and cleaning products. These products sell quickly because we need them for hygienic reasons. Sonia's goal is to increase her income as she has to pay the water bill and the electricity bill as well as pay for medicine and continue meeting her loan payments on time.
