A loan of $1,375 helped a member to buy jewels.

La Buena Fe Group's story

Marta is the coordinator of her group, L. Buena Fe ("The Good Faith"). Her group is located in the rural area surrounding Hato Mayor, a sleepy agricultural town. They are five businesspeople dedicated to selling different products. She makes her home here in a simple structure with her long-term partner and five of their six children.

Marta is excited to be taking out her fifth loan with Esperanza after having successfully repaid her previous loan and grown her business. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business selling jewelry. She intends to use the loan capital to purchase rings, chains, bracelets, and other jewels. She will use the profits to save, complete construction on her home, and invest in her children's education.

Her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican clients generally, many of whom recently immigrated to the Dominican Republic from Haiti. She thanks you all for your support.
