Benkadi 4 Group's story

The 5 members of Benkadi 4 are married women with an average age of 28, and an average of 2 children each. They live with their husbands and children in N'gona, which is about 40 km from Niena, in the Sikasso region, third administrative region of the Republic of Mali.

These ladies are on their 5th loan cycle with micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso, which will allow them to meet their need for production and agricultural intrants. The previous loans were all fully repaid.

The women grow corn, rice, ground nuts, okra, etc. Maminata plans to use her loan to buy one sack of urea, 2 sacks of complex fertilizer, and the rest will be used to pay for plowing and hoeing costs. She expects to make an average monthly profit of 20,000 to 35,000 CFA francs which will be used for the family's daily expenses.
