A loan of $675 helped to buy a truck to transport work equipment.

Marina Ines's story

Marina is from Jicarito County in Telica, a municipality of León. She is 38 years old and the mother of two children. She has been selling seafood for a living for 8 years. Her parents were very poor and she was only able to finish 4th grade. She began work as a street vendor in her community, going out in the very early morning hours, walking long distances to sell her goods. She was only 20 years old then and, with time, decided to sell seafood. Her older children help with sales, as does her husband. They sell in the bus terminal and are able to make a decent living.

Marina has requested a loan to buy a truck so she can transport her work equipment, consisting of tables, chairs, a cooler, and the seafood. With this investment she hopes to be able to increase business, save money and improve sales. She hopes to build her business into a solid family enterprise. Her plans for the future include buying a market stall and expanding her activity. Her goal is to make some home improvements, especially to her childrens' bedrooms.
