A loan of $1,200 helped to buy seed and fertilizer.

Angela's story

Ángela is 39 years old, married, living with her husband and five children, who are 22, 21, 17, 15 and 4 years old, in San Pablo Parish belonging to San Miguel Canton.

The “Unión y Esperanza” (Unity and Hope) communal bank is located in San Pablo Parish 30 minutes from the San Miguel office. Its members are corn and potato farmers and vegetable and others merchants.

Ángela is a farmer. She grows corn and small amounts of potatoes. She’s also a vegetable merchant. She’s been in this line of work for a long time. She makes her purchases in San Miguel and sells her products in farmers markets in San Pablo and San Miguel.

She is asking for the loan to buy seed and fertilizer. The loan has helped her increase income and crop yield. She has faced challenges like the scarcity of laborers and weather variations that occasionally have damaged the crops. Her dream is to buy more land to increase production.

She enjoys working in the fields, knitting wool clothes and celebrating Carnival.
