Benkelema 5 Group's story

The 7 members of the BENKELEMA 5 group are married women who are on average 33 years old with 5 children. They live in polygamous families in Konona, located approximately 30 km from the Niena commune in the Sikasso region, 3rd administrative region of Mali. These clients are on their third campaign loan cycle with the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution in order to meet the need for means of production and agricultural fertilizer. The previous loans have been satisfactorily repaid. This group of women grows corn, rice, peanuts, okra, etc. MARIAM plans to buy 3 bags of urea, 2 bags of complex fertilizer and use the remainder of the loan for labor and weeding costs. She expects to make an average profit of 45,000 to 50,000 CFA which will be used for the family’s everyday expenses.
