Benkelema 3 Group's story

The 10 members of Benkelema 3 are married women. They are on average 33 years old and have on average 5 children. They live with their husbands, cospouses and children in Konona, a village located about 30 km from the city of Niena in the Sikasso region, the 3rd administrative region of Mali. These clients are on their third loan with microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso in order to satisfy their needs in terms of production and agriculture ingredients. The previous loans were satisfactorily repaid. This group of women grows corn, rice, peanuts, okra, etc. Mariam plans to use her loan to buy 3 bags of urea and 2 bags of complex grains and the rest on labor and hoeing. She envisions making on average 45,000 – 50,000 FCFA, which will be used towards her family’s daily needs.
