A loan of $1,100 helped to purchase animal manure for fertilizing her land.

Sergia's story

Sergia, age 28, is a hardworking woman. She lives in her own home with her partner Daniel, age 35, and their two beloved children, Kiara (age 6) and Edson (age 6 months), for whom she wants to provide a better quality of life. Sergia works diligently on her land so that it will yield productive returns. She grows cacao, coffee, and turmeric. These products are in great demand. She takes her harvest to the collection centers located in the city of San Francisco, where she is able to generate considerable earnings. Her crops provide her with the necessary income to support her family and pay for her child’s educational expenses. For this reason, Sergia does all she can to make her land productive. What she enjoys most about her work is protecting her crops against plagues of insects, and she is willing to do whatever it takes. Sergia has been farming for eight years and considers the most difficult part to be transporting her products from the field to her community. This journey requires one hour of walking, but she knows that she will be rewarded for all of her efforts. Now her greatest priority is to buy animal manure for fertilizing her crops, which will ensure a good harvest. For this reason, she asks for all the help she can get so that she can follow through with her plans. In the future, she hopes to buy more land so that she can increase production.

This will be her ninth loan with MFP. Sergia says that she repaid her previous loans on time and hopes to do the same now. She is an active participant in her Communal Bank. With this loan, she will buy animal manure for fertilizing her land. She hopes to earn a good profit from the fruits that will eventually be harvested.
