A loan of $375 helped to buy jackets, pantyhose (tights) and sweaters.

Luz Marina's story

Luz Marina is a member of the "3 de Mayo" community bank which is located in Ilave district, in El Collao province, in Puno department. She is 18 years old, single, and doesn't have any children. She has a high school level of education. Luz Marina has been working with Movimiento Manuela Ramos for one loan cycle. Her first loan was for 500 Peruvian soles and she invested that money in her business selling clothes (baby clothes, pantyhose, etc.) Luz Marina will use this new loan for 1,000 soles to buy jackets, pantyhose (tights) and sweaters. She tells us that she buys her merchandise in Tacna, Moquegua and Desaguadero and sells it in the town of Ilave. She works alone in her business. Luz Marina's dream is to own a large, well-stocked store where she can display all her merchandise. What she likes about her community bank is the money that she makes on her savings.
