Nzambe Malamu Plus Group's story

Nzambe Malamu Plus is a group of 13 owners of small businesses chaired by Marcel. Its members are jointly liable for loans granted by Kiva to grow their businesses.

Marcel, 49, is married and operates a general store in an area located north of the capital city of Kinshasa. He has been running his business for years. He has acquired solid experience in this area. Marcel has already used seven Hope loans (a DRCongo Microfinance Program) to finance the expanding of his inventory and he paid them back correctly. Due to the high demand in his community, he intends with the next loan to buy more goods for resale in order to meet clients demand and generate additional profit. This will help him to achieve his plans to grow the business. It brings in a profit of US$122 per week. Marcel’s ambition is to expand his store. He is the father of two children whose ages are 8 and 14 years old. Both go to school.
