A loan helped to purchase and insure a dairy cow and purchase additional stock of chickens.

Jane's story

Jane is a farmer from Kitale town in western Kenya. She has been in the farming business for the last 10 years and employs one farmhand. Her farm produces maize, vegetables, and milk, which are all sold locally. She earns additional income from her grocery shop in the same location. She is 43 years old and married with 7 children who all attend school.

Jane has requested her fourth loan from Juhudi Kilimo, for 61,200 KES. She will use this loan to buy and insure a dairy cow and purchase additional stock of chickens. The proceeds from these projects will help in the education of her children.

Her primary challenges in the farming business have been diseases and the low and fluctuating market prices of her products. She hopes to practice commercial farming in the future by having at least 4 dairy cows and dairy goats and at least 2000 chickens.
