Margaret's story

Margaret is 54 and married with three adult children. She is a farmer from Nkubu town in eastern Kenya where she has been farming for over 20 years. Her mixed farm produces carrots, potatoes, maize, and milk which are all sold locally. Farming is her main source of income. Margaret has requested a loan of 40,000 Kes through Juhudi Kilimo to purchase a dairy cow. The extra income from the sale of milk will help her improve her family's livelihood and be independent. She would like to acquire three quality dairy cows in the next 5 years. Her biggest challenges have been unpredictable weather conditions and diseases which affect her production.
