A loan of $1,000 helped to buy fabric and thread.

Ana María's story

Ana is a member of the village bank Prosperidad. She lives in the Totems sector on the city of Cuenca, which is known for its beautiful architecture and the natural surroundings. Cuenca is a cradle of athletes and writers, and its people maintain their culture and traditions.

Ana, 60, is married and has four grown children who are married and independent. Her husband is retired and helps her around the house. They own their home.

Ana has been a seamstress for 30 years. She sews athletic clothing and lingerie. She works Monday to Friday without a set schedule.

This is her 20th loan with the village bank and she will invest it in the purchase of basic materials like fabric and threads.

Her goal is to buy more sewing machines to expand her workshop.
