Voice Of Women Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone is very pleased to present to you the members of the “Voice of Women” group. These are small-scale entrepreneurs who have come to SMT/Kiva lenders to seek a loan of SLL 800,000 for each in order to invest in their businesses.

Adama is the leader of this group. Adama is 46-year-old and married with six children. Three of her children are attending secondary schools. Adama sells market food including margi (used to give sauce a sweet taste), palm oil (the most popular cooking oil), frying oil, tomatoes, peppers, salt, etc. She has been doing this business for six years now. With the help of this loan, Adama will invest in her business by buying the above-mentioned items in large quantity to add to her business.
