A loan of $1,000 helped to buy materials such as fabric, thread and pins.

Nelly Isabel's story

Nelly, age 59, lives on the city outskirts in the Perimetral. Her husband sells merchandise, and they have adult children with their own commitments. Her business activity is dress-making.

She began 23 years ago when she realized she had to work to help her children get ahead. She bought a sewing machine and began making blouses, trousers and skirts. She works alone and does not have fixed work hours, so fills orders as they come in from customers. With the help of the loan she wants to buy fabric, pins and thread for production so she can increase her income. In the future she would like to create new styles of clothing and renovate her home so her grandchildren can live more comfortably.
