A loan of $1,200 helped to purchase a television, an Xbox, controllers and video games.

Vilma Evelia's story

Vilma is 54 years old and has a business renting PlayStations and other video game systems. She started this activity 15 years ago when she was living in the city of Medellín with her husband and their two children, ages 26 and 29. After her husband died she came to the town of Malambo to her mother's home and eight years ago started a business offering recreational options to kids and youths through video games. Over many years Vilma's business did not have any competition and she was able to strengthen it some. A little while ago a neighbor started up a similar business, and Vilma needs to improve her service and modernize so she can compete. For this reason, she is turning to a Kiva loan to purchase a television, an Xbox, controllers and video games, and her goal in the future is to improve her storefront. She is requesting the loan to increase her working capital and generate alternatives for her customers to access modern and educational games.
